Wow, what a great game. Tonight should probably be about how dominant Hassan Whiteside was and how the Wolves are a young team that just couldn’t quite close it out like most young teams. Instead the Timberwolves employed the hack-a-shaq strategy to gain a significant lead and force Hassan Whiteside off the floor and they closed it out to win 103-91 on the road after a 41 point fourth quarter. I’m on team tank but I’m certainly not against a win like this against one of the best defensive teams in the NBA. Tonight was all about the Timberwolves young fellas coming up big in the clutch and showing how great their potential really is.
Ricky Rubio: He wasn’t great tonight but he made a huge difference on defense. He was also a massive reason why the Twolves only had 8 turnovers tonight. He’s our most important player right now and if he didn’t play the Wolves wouldn’t have won tonight.
Andrew Wiggins: Great game overall but he didn’t really pick it up until the fourth quarter when he scored 11 points. He still shoots way too many long two point jumpers but he was much better tonight at attacking the basket. Played good defense on Wade tonight holding him to 10 points on 5-13 shooting. Still would like to see him shoot more threes. Also Wiggins almost murdered Whiteside tonight on a poster but Whiteside hit him in the face and the dunk bounced off the back of the rim. No foul was called.
Kevin Garnett: The Timberwolves played excellent defense tonight with him on the court. He did an excellent job on Bosh and was strong on the boards in the little time he was on the court.
Karl-Anthony Towns: Had an up and down night. Didn’t win many matchups in the post against Whiteside but still found a way to get his. Hit a key tip-in with a little more than two minutes to go and was strong on the Boards tonight.
Zach Lavine: Came up huge in crunch-time tonight scoring 12 of his 17 points in the fourth quarter including two huge threes. I like that he’s one of the few players on this team willing to shoot a three pointer. He seems to be finding a groove. I’m don’t really think he’s trash anymore even though I’m sure he’s going to have plenty of trash games this year.
Shabazz Muhammed: It seemed like every time Miami was about to pull away in the first three quarters Shabazz was there to keep this team afloat. This is a guy that needs to play way more minutes. He played some good defense on Justise Winslow tonight. Shot the ball real well from the outside, maybe he should shoot more?
Adreian Payne: Payne did a little of everything tonight, played solid defense, cleaned up on the offensive glass, caught an alley-oop from Shabazz (although I’m pretty sure Shabazz was just trying to hit a floater), and stretched the floor a bit. He’s been much better this year than I thought he’d be and he’s been in some of our best lineups.
Nemanja Bjelica: Had a pretty rough game tonight shooting the ball but I thought he was disruptive on defense with a couple of blocks and some deflections. He was way off tonight shooting the long ball but I have absolutely no problem with any of those shots. He didn’t hit any of them tonight but he’ll hit them eventually.
Not a great night for team tank but there’s still hope. Rubio is our most important player and tonight we saw that but he’s also a player who’s constantly hurt which is great for team tank. Not that we wish him to get injured but we all know it’s going to happen.
UK and Duke played tonight and three of the top 5 prospects were on the floor in Skal Labissiere, Jamal Murray, and Brandon Ingram. Jamal Murray had by far the best night of the three with 16 points, five rebounds, five assists, and 4 steals. I think he’s the guy we need on our team to take it to the next level. Great win tonight but from now on LETS TANK!!!
Great game tonight! Tomorrow the Timberwolves play the Orlando Magic. WOLVESUP PEOPLE!!!
